James Stewart Eaton was born 13 November 1816 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. He graduated from the Teachers’ Seminary at Andover (Class of 1839) as Valedictorian. He taught at Bacon Academy at Colchester, Connecticut before going to Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts in 1847. He remained in Andover until his death in October. 1865.
