Edward Seaver, 1838-1917 and George Walton, 1822-1908
Edward Pliny Seaver was born 24 February 1838 in Northborough, Massachusetts. He was graduated from Harvard College in 1864. After graduation, he became Principal of the boys’ department at the Friends’ Academy in July 1865. He was also a tutor in mathematics at Harvard, where he became an Assistant Professor in 1869. From 1874 to 1880, he was headmaster of the English High School and then in 1880 he became Superintendent of the Public Schools of the City of Boston where he served until 1904. He died in New Bedford, Massachusetts on 7 December 1917.
George Augustus Walton served as Agent of the Board of Education in Massachusetts.
