Significant People

When asked about the significant people that have impacted their experience at Millersville, narrators mentioned both faculty and staff members who served as either professors or advisors to them. This included individuals such as: the late Dr. Rita Smith-Wade-El, Dwight Horsey, Diana Garber, Dr. Justin García, Dr. Aaron Porter, and Deborah Sigel.

The Late Dr. Rita Smith-Wade-El

"Rita Smith Wade El. . . . Because that lady is very passionate about everything and you know if you ain't doing it the right way, she is going to tell you are doing it the wrong way. "Okay, Dr. Porter. I had him for the first time this semester, but I feel like he as an individual has impacted my collegiate experience beyond words. He has given me time management skills, he's given me a better work ethic, he's expanded my mind and knowledge on sociology. And I feel like that Dr. Porter himself has given me a better understanding of how this country works, how communities work, how to think differently, how to think outside the box opposed to always thinking in your comfort zone."(3) - Michea Wolfley

For the narrators, these individuals helped to either influence their academic career, provide guidance about majors and courses, or helped the students think about future research and academic goals. Narrators described them as straightfoward, supportive, patient, understanding, and insightful.
